Ocean Shores, NJ

Ocean Shores, NJ
Monday September the 15th we hung around Freeda and just decompressed from our fun and hectic weekend. I called RPI to see if we could stay another week here at Lake & Shore campground, and they said no problem. That will give us more time to figure out what we are going to do next. Becca and Andrew get home on the 20th, and we will be here until the 25th. Enough time to make a decision one way or another.
The next couple of days we hung around home and did little projects. We want to have some things done in case we do decide to put Freeda in storage. Eddie checked everything for signs of a "stowaway" and did not find anything. We bought some containers to put cereal and snacks in so as not to attract any critters. Eddie and I took down all of the screens and cleaned them. I had tried to vacuum them, but that just didn't do the job. We also Windexed all of the windows on the inside. It was quite a project, but it looks good. I still have issues with my range of motion, so I am grateful Eddie was able to reach and get to the places I was not able to. Eddie got the heater finished up for Bruce. It came out really nice. Bruce is going to LOVE it!!!

September 19th we drove to Cape May. It is cute little tourist type town. We drove around looking for a place to park so we could explore more, but didn't have any luck. It was quite busy for a Friday afternoon.

We were getting hungry, so we stopped and had lunch at a little family run Italian place. It was really good. The day was beautiful, so we ate outside and watched the world go by.

After eating, we headed to Cape May point to see the lighthouse. It isn't like Point Roberts lighthouse park, there REALLY is a lighthouse in Cape May.
really nice area

a REAL lighthouse!!!!
We parked and walked around. Luckily for us, just 3 days earlier the ban on dogs at the beach was lifted, so we were able to take Suzy out with us. It was quite windy, but she LOVED it!!!! If she could of been off her leash, she would have just ran and ran. She wasn't as impressed with the ocean and waves as she was with the soft sand. On the beach there was a World war two bunker that "guarded" the beach from an invasion. Kinda cool.

When we got home, we had neighbors across from us. They were real nice, and even brought over some dinner for us. It was a Puerto Rican dish of rice and stew. I liked the rice and the corn on the cob they gave us, but the stew wasn't my thing. All in all, it was really kind of them to share. After dinner, we settled in for the evening.

Saturday the 20th, Becca and Andrew got back from their cruise. They both said it was great, and they had a real good time. Eddie started on  a DVD project for them from the pictures we had taken. He loves to do things like that!!!! And of course, he is really good at it.
Sunday the 21st, we got up and going to get to Becca and Andrew's. When we got there, they were not home yet from picking up Vegas, but got there not to long after us. We visited and hung around for a little, then took off to check out the storage facility that Andrew made arrangements to store Freeda at. Eddie and I both appreciate what Andrew has offered, but are VERY hesitant to leave out little home for an extended time period. The storage yard is nice, clean, gated and has security. The spot where Freeda will be is a well maintained grassy area. We went back to the kids house to further discuss our options. Unfortunately, our options are VERY limited. Andrew paid for two months storage as a surprise and gift to us. Right now we just do not have the funds for a campground, or gas to get back to the west coast where we have places we can park and stay. So the decision was made to put Freeda in storage and stay with Becca and Andrew. All the while still looking for a place to be able to park and live in Freeda. It also gives us more time to explore the East coast. We don't know when we might be back this way, so both of us would like to see as much as we can, while we can.
Monday we went to the Country club that hosted Becca and Andrew's wedding to pick up some things that were left there. We also made a Walmart run to get our meds. We then went home and hung around outside. The weather has cooled down, and it was quite nice out.
our last "camp" spot for awhile!!!
Tuesday was another "project" day. We are trying to make sure all is done and ready that needs to be done and ready for the next couple of months just in case we are away for that long. Wednesday we started to pack up and get ready for our travel day on Thursday. It was a good thing we broke down everything outside and put the awnings in. Not to long after we were done, it started to rain and blow.
Thursday we got up and going. It is only about a one and half to two hour drive to Stowaway storage, but we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time. We were to meet with the owner, Rose, before 1:30. We got there just after noon. Rose was not in, but Steve, her employee was. He is a real nice fellow. We got all of the paperwork done, and then got Freeda parked. It had been raining off and on all day. With that and the fact that we were putting our "baby" in storage, both Eddie and I were kinda sad. We loaded up the cruiser with want we wanted to take to the kids place and headed out. We got to Becca and Andrew's and got all settled in their guest room. They have a cute little place, and we are comfortable here, but it isn't our "home". I really, REALLY hope we can find a place to park close to here and soon!!!!
So our blog is going to be a bit different for awhile. I won't be posting as often because we won't be traveling and moving about as much. I will however still post on our adventures and visits to places. I hope it doesn't get to boring for you all!!!!!
This is a good place to close and post for now. Take care and cross your fingers we can sell one of Eddie's paintings to be able to be back in our home and back on the road soon!!!!
Love to you all, Eddie, Darlanne & Suzy-Q
